The Blaster Master comic was loosely based on Blaster Master and ran in the Sunsoft Game Times News newsletter in 1989. It is credited to Todd M. Papaleo.
In the comic, Jason is referred to as Jason B. Masters, Sophia 3rd is called Metal Attacker (from MetaFight), and Mother Brain is established as the main antagonist, known here as Cramitor. There is also the presence of Xenos from Xenophobe, and no reference to Fred or the Plutonium Boss. It is likely that the storyline of the comic was created with little or no knowledge of the game's progression beyond the first stage.
